When Customers Leave Your Site
There is a very interesting article from Shane Atchison on the ClickZ Network today. The article discusses the reasons that marketers need to know where and why customers leave their web site. The article also talks about some strategies that marketers can implement to get better information as to where and why customers "walk out the door".
One of the key strategies is to implement pop up surveys or after-the-fact email surveys so the marketer can learn more about the customer's behaviors. I would also add that it would be useful to offer some type of promotion for getting the customer to respond to the survey, including earning loyalty points that can be used for further purchases.
This is just another of the recent stream of articles and conferences that are raising the issue of using surveys in better understand your customer's behaviors and desires.
